Family and Carers Support

At Herts Neuropsych Solutions we recognise the profound impact that an acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions can have on an individual’s relationships and their wider family networks and support systems. We understand that family members are often faced with significant emotional and psychological challenges. In our experience, this can often include a range of complex emotional responses such as grief, anger and feelings of ambiguous loss, managing sudden changes in roles and responsibilities, stress associated with care giving and experiencing difficulty in maintaining relationships and social connections.

We understand the impact on family members is often far reaching and multifaceted, and requires specialist psychological interventions to support family members to navigate the unique challenges and complexities of life following a neurological injury or illness.

When working therapeutically with family members we can offer a range of evidence based therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), systemic family based interventions and trauma-informed therapy, as well as providing education and support to better understanding their loved one’s condition.
