Neuropsychological (Cognitive) Assessment

We offer comprehensive neuropsychological (cognitive) assessments to identify cognitive strengths and challenges following acquired brain injury, as well as considering the impact of any behavioural and emotional consequences.

The cognitive assessment primarily involves the administration of standardised tests including pen and paper and computer based tasks, manipulation of materials, answering questions and problem solving. As part of the assessment process, we will spend time finding out what is most important to each individual, as well as understanding what has changed for them since the injury and exploring future goals and aspirations. We also aim to meet with a close family member or a member of their wider support system to gather collateral information to broaden our understanding and gather multiple perspectives.

Testing is typically carried out over two face-to-face appointment sessions. When appropriate we may offer a hybrid model, which involves attending a mix of face-to-face and remote video based appointments.

Following the assessment a comprehensive report will be prepared providing clear recommendations based on the assessment findings. A feedback session will also be arranged to discuss the results in terms of strengths and weaknesses and to further define recommendations for ongoing rehabilitation.

Follow up sessions can be arranged where appropriate to provide ongoing specialist cognitive rehabilitation support.
