Psychological Therapy and Adjustment Support

We understand that brain injury and neurological conditions can have a profound impact on an individual’s emotional well-being and on the wider system around them. We are experienced in working with family members and recognise the unique challenges which accompany ABI and long-term neurological illness.

We provide detailed psychological assessments and bespoke, evidence-based psychological treatments for a range of common conditions associated with neurological injury and illness, including anxiety, low mood and depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), changes in self-identity, loss and adjustment issues, relationship strain, cognitive and behavioural difficulties and fatigue.

Support can include individual psychological therapy, couple or family sessions depending on circumstances and the identified clinical need.

We offer a warm, confidential, non-judgemental space in which to explore the impact of the injury and illness on an individual’s well-being, relationships and self-identity. Psychological therapy interventions will be based on individualised formulation models which are created collaboratively during the early sessions to aid understanding of the presenting difficulties and factors seen to be contributing to and maintaining their difficulties, which will be targeted within therapy sessions.

We offer a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
